Esther Muchiri
Esther holds a bachelor’s degree in Business administration and Human Resource Management. She is the manager at Valley Light Home. She supervises the staff and oversees the operations of all the departments. Before joining Valley Light, Esther worked as the Human Resource Manager at the Kijabe Medical Hospital. When Valley Light home was started, Esther felt called to serve the children. She has been with Valley Light from the beginning. Esther is married to Samson Mwangi and is a mother of two girls – Joy Muchiri and Favor Muchiri. Her main desire is to see the children of Valley Light achieve their dreams and to encourage the staff as they serve the children.
Susan Mumo
Susan is the spiritual coordinator and social worker at Valley Light Home. She is a graduate of Moffat Bible College where she earned a diploma in theology and counselling. She also took courses in psychology and social work. Susan has a great passion for children. She was instrumental in starting an AWANA ministry at VLH in January 2013 that reaches over 200 children with the Gospel every Sunday in a fun, learning environment. Susan is married to Reverend James Mumo and they are blessed with two lovely children – Alpha and Caren. Her interests include socializing and singing.
Phylis Kanguru
Phylis works at Valley Light as an accountant and quality control manager. She holds an M.A. in banking and a B. A. in economics. She is currently pursuing another M.A. in banking finance. Phylis is passionate about working with children. Her interests include singing gospel music and traveling.
Eluid Mbugua Gichohi ("Boss")
We have the pleasure of welcoming Eliud Gichohi aka Uncle Boss, back to VLH. Boss has been on loan to our building project working as a Store Manager and helping with the supplies and driving. He is now back with us full time overseeing our facilities as the maintenance and security manager. Boss’ jovial personality endears him to the children, and they are happy to have him around more. Eliud is a departmental supervisor at VLH. He oversees the maintenance, security, grounds and the farming project. He joined VLH in 2012. He maintains a great working relationship with the staff and is a proven problem solver.

VOLUNTEERS
Lisa Monroe
Lisa Monroe, known to the kiddos as “Auntie Cece,” has been serving at VLH as a volunteer a few months a year since the first year of Valley Light. Cece runs our social media accounts and helps coordinate visits for new volunteers. Her most important role is spending quality time with the kids on a daily basis, doing activities and mentoring. As you can imagine, there are a lot of needs that arise with a home of 34 kiddos. Auntie Cece is a valuable member of the Valley Light family.
